The Fragmentation of Renaissance Occultism and the Decline of Magic

Team info
Description

In the year 1817, Charles Lamb described Isaac Newton as a fellow who does not believe in anything until he sees it clearly like three sides of a triangle. Furthermore, he and John Keats agreed to the fact that Newton has destroyed the imaginations and poetries about the rainbow by introducing the concept of the prism. Many scientists of that era also described the scientific progressions of Newton in their poetries where they highlighted his presence as a Reason maker. But later, a new image of Newton was established, especially in France and it served many ideological purposes. This new image was better recognized as the Enlightenment Image of Newton and surprisingly, he drives him far away from his mathematical journey.

The Enlightenment image of these great scientists has something to do with mankind. If we try to reconstruct Newton’s beliefs regarding the true nature of the rainbow, it may appear very difficult to resist the thoughts of Blake, Lamb, and Keats about Newton. It is also important to mention the very interesting fact about the rainbow that we have learned right from childhood that rainbows have seven colors. But here is one strong proof of Newton’s belief in harmony as this reputed scientist has disclosed an important concept about the visible appearance of the rainbow. His very important question during these experiments was: Has anyone ever observed indigo in the rainbow color spectrum?

In order to find answers to this question, he conducted one of the most important experiments and published results in 1704. This experiment described the way to identify all colors of a rainbow. The results of this experiment highlighted his beliefs on cosmic harmonics as well as on Pythagorean wisdom. As per Newton, the seven colors of the rainbow represent the seven notes of an octave. His analogy between music and light helped him understand that all the colors are basically the pure form of light. This concept ruled out the old philosophies which used to state that all colors are corrupted versions of white, pure light.

Now the important question in front of Newton was that what doesn’t the glorious light of the sun has in the mixture to which he answered that white light from the sun should not be considered as a corrupted version of light developed from a mixture of several pure lights; instead, it must be recognized as the superb harmony of all the colored lights that shine in unison. With similar kind of findings, several scientists and philosophers have indicated the instrumental emergence of magic in modern science. The scientists started seeing everything with a different perspective where imaginations were preferably examined through laboratory experiments. This trend led to the decline of Indonesian Occult & Magic along with fragmentation of the renaissance of occultism.

Modern science is more about getting direct results with some widely accepted experimental methods. The new-age intellectual theory further helped to lead a new philosophy with more legitimate and valid concepts.
