There is hope for using ECM on GPUs rather than MPQS during the sieving, but there's still a lot of research to go before that becomes viable. Also, if we do a really large GNFS, then the GPU portion of the polynomial selection could be distributed. For the short term, though, NFS@Home will be CPU only.
